Feels great to defend the Afrobasket title – Kalu

Following the return of the players of the women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress,to the country last night after their dominance at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket as they won their second straight title against Senegal 60-55 in a tightly contested Final Sunday night at the magnificent 15,000-seater Dakar Arena, with top player Ezinne Kalu expressing her delight at the team’s achievement.

D’Tigress, who registered a perfect five-game unbeaten run at the biennial competition, looked perfect all tournament on their way to win their fourth African title

Speaking with www.brila.net, Ezinne Kalu who was named the undisputed MVP as she joined teammate Evelyn Akhator in the Tournament Five, also appreciated the coaching crew as well as her teammates for the historic retention of their title.

“Am just happy for the achievement, happy with the coaching staff and my sisters, it wasn’t easy for us”.

“We did it, back to back retention of the title and I am so excited with this achievement, also excited we went there and made history and I am very excited and proud of this team”.
