Onyekuru helps AS Monaco pick first point of the Season

Henry Onyekuru impressed in his second start for troubled AS Monaco in a Ligue Un clash against fellow bottom side Nîmes on Sunday.

Onyekuru provided an assist and also had a crack on goal, but his best couldn’t help Leonardo Jardim’s men secure their first win and would settle for a draw.

Nîmes fought from two goals down after Algerian forward Islam Slimani opened scoring (39′), who was set up by the Nigerian winger with a bold cut back inside the box.

Another new signing Wissam Ben Yedder (45+1′) doubled for the hosts in the first half. However the second 45 minutes started off terribly for them.

A sending off in the 56th minute gave the visitors a numerical advantage to push for goals and even pick points and they welcomed it with a aplomb.

Romain Philippoteaux reduced the deficit (70′) and eventually Nîmes managed to level through 18 year-old Togolese, Ahoueke Kévin Denkey.

Denkey making his Ligue Un debut struck with his first touch in the game.

The draw means AS Monaco have just one point from three games and are having their worst start to a league season in over a decade.
