Niger Tornadoes Win 2019 Taiwo Ogunjobi Gold Cup

Niger Tornadoes of Minna defeated Sunshine Stars of Akure to clinch the 2019 Taiwo Ogunjobi Gold Torney on Saturday.

The Abubakar Bala side fought back from a goal down to win the game 2-1 in front of a sold-out crowd at the Ilorin Township Stadium.

The victory is a boost for the Ikhon Allah boys who are seeking an immediate return to the Nigeria Professional football league, after their relegation from the top flight last season.

The team also suffered early elimination from the CAF Confederations Cup at the expense of Santoba FC but will go into new NNL season with full confidence.

Meanwhile, the following players were rewarded for their outstanding performances at the end of the tournament.

Nosir Azeez (Niger Tornadoes FC)  – Best Player award.

Kabiru Umar (Niger Tornadoes FC) – Top scorer.

Ojo Olorunleke (Sunshine Stars FC) – Best Performing Goal Keeper.
