NFF, LMC mourn death of Nigerian footballer, Martins

Nigeria Football Federation has lament the passing of Nasarawa United player Martins Chineme who died on Sunday.

The youngster lost his life on a day his team recorded an important 3-0 victory over visiting Katsina United at the Lafia township stadium on Sunday.

 

The player was said to have slumped on the pitch, and was rushed to the hospital , where he was later pronounced dead.

 

The Nigerian football governing body however took to their official social media handle to commiserate with Nasarawa United and the family of the late footballer.

 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with @NasarawaUnited and the immediate family of their player Chineme Martins who reportedly slumped and died during a league game today in Lafia.

 

“We are saddened about this news and we pray for the repose of his soul.”

 

Meanwhile, the organisers of the Nigeria professional football league,  League Management Company has also reacted to the passing of the player.
