Akwuegbu wants improved officiating and sponsors for NNL

Ex-international, Benedict Akwuegbu has challenged the organizers of the Nigeria National League to improve the quality of the officiating.

The Nigeria National League has been on break since December 2019 due to financial challenges, and a possible return date is yet to be scheduled by the authorities.

Akwuegbu who was in charge of Mighty Jets FC, in the NNL a few seasons ago believed the Nigeria Football Federation have a lot of work to do in order to improve the league.

The former Super Eagles striker added that poor officiating and lack of sponsors are major problems facing the national league and called on the Nigeria Football Federation to do something quickly to correct the situation.

“They must improve the officiating of the NNL, they should try to bring more publicity and more sponsors in order to encourage fans to the stadium. Generally, I think NNL and NFF are doing their best.

“But then, no organization is perfect, every Association have lapses, but we must encourage our own, and let’s hope that after the Covid-19 thing will get better,” he told www.brila.net.

Akwuegbu who was part of the Super Eagles squad to the 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan, concluded that clubs also must be run professionally in order to making thing easier for the Nigeria Football Federation.
