The Lagos States Government has served seven days’ Removal Notice’ to owners/occupiers of illegal structures/shanties and containerized shops around Abattoir and Oko-oba, Agege to remove them or as they would be demolished.
Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, in charge of the enforcement team, said that over 2500 illegal structures/shanties including containerized shops have been served ‘Removal Order’ within Okoba- Oba, Abattoir, and Fagba by Railway side, Agege.
Egbeyemi disclosed further that the illegal shanties were being occupied by hoodlums who terrorized innocent citizens, dispossessing them of their valuables such as phones, wallets, and jewelry at the early of the morning and at night.
“Hoodlums are freely smoking and selling Indian hemp to underaged children in the shanties. underaged female children are also used for prostitution.
It is too bad and we can’t fold our arms and watch hoodlums take over our streets and children. We must retrieve our children from them. There are lots of complaints by residents that they can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed as criminals who hide in the shanties are terrorizing them
He said that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Imohimi Edgal has directed that the shanties should be demolished after the expiration of the seven -Day notice and that any hoodlum arrested in the area should be charged to court.
He said the CP has also directed that Egbeyemi should carry out a raid on all criminal hideouts and black-spots across the State.
