Abd’Allah eyes Continental return with Enyimba

Technical adviser of Enyimba FC, Usman Abd’Allah, has revealed that the aim of his side is to win a continental ticket at the end of coming 2018/2019 NigeriaProfessional ootball League season.

The People’s Elephant reached the semi-final of the CAF Confederations Cup last season but will only compete in the Nigeria Professional Football League and Aiteo Cup when the next football season begins in Nigeria.

With the NPFL new abridged format, Abd’Allah who replaced Paul Aigbogun at the club said the team will work to win a playoffs spot at the end of the regular season.

“It’s two groups now, so the point is to qualify from our group,” Abd’Allah commented.

“It doesn’t matter if we are first, second or third; even fourth. All we need is to qualify. It’s when we get to the playoffs that champions and continental slots will be won. We’ll do one thing at a time.”

“The most important thing is to gain a continental slot because it’s very important that we return to the continent. If a trophy comes it will be a bonus.

Last year we chased trophies because it’s been a long time we laid out hands on a silverware. The team has to come back and add more stars to the crown.”

Abd’Allah , who not long ago signed an extension with the Nigerian warlords said his decision to remain with club is due to continuity .

“It’s all about continuity because Enyimba needs it and it’s the right thing to do,” Abd’Allah commented.

“The team has done well and I think continuity is very important. That was the most considered factor (for remaining at Enyimba).

I am getting used to the players and the players are getting used to me. Also in terms of my career, continuity is very important.” He concluded
