Ademola Lookman to make first Premier League start for Everton vs Newcastle

Everton will host Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Wednesday night and Marco Silva could hand Ademola Lookman the chance to start the game.

The 21-year-old has found his opportunities limited since coming back from his rather impressive loan spell with Red Bull Leipzig last season.

Lookman has been given some minutes as a substitute in matches, including a 30-minute cameo in Everton’s Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.

However, it appears as though Silva could be about to hand him the chance to make a real impression from the start.

Games are about to come thick and fast for Everton and the fixture against Newcastle could be the ideal opportunity for Lookman to further stake his claim for a first-team spot.

“Ademola is pushing really hard and maybe even has shown he deserves a place in the starting XI. He had a small issue last week and he only trained with our group on Saturday,” Silva told the club’s official website.

“He did well in the 30 minutes he played against Liverpool and he is more than ready to start. That is a possibility for tomorrow.

Not just him – we have not had that much time for recovery since our last match. It is possible I will make some changes to our starting XI.”

Silva also revealed that Morgan Schneiderlin could be a doubt for Everton as he has a small problem in his leg and will be assessed before kick-off.
