ALABA FIRE VICTIMS SEND SOS TO GOVERNOR SANWO OLU


The amalgamated Computer and Security Appliances businesses in the Alaba International Market have sent a Save Our Soul to the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo Olu over the recent fire incident which gutted the portion of the international Electronics market which they occupied and destroyed so many shops and goods estimated at billions of naira. Conducting the State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, and Cooperatives, Dr. Mrs. Lola Akande who represented the governor on an assessment visit, the traders expressed deep sorrow for the fire disaster and the huge setback it has brought to all of them.

Addressing the Commissioner, the Chairman of the market Unit, Engr. Gerald Okeke said the volume of the ruins and debris from the fire which lasted several hours tells the story of the quantum of their losses and appealed to the state government to quickly come to their aid by starting the rebuilding of the market without delays. The traders also appealed to the government to construct more modern stalls and structures with fire resistance features.

In her own speech, Dr. Akande expressed deep shock and sympathy on behalf of herself and the government for the traders. According to her electronic commerce is essential for the growth and prosperity of the economy; and the government attached so much importance to these Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and would do whatever is necessary to promote and sustain them.
