Alaekwe happy to lead new generation FC Ifeanyi Ubah players

FC Ifeanyi Ubah captain Chijioke Alaekwe says he’s trying to motivate the Anambra warriors young squad in order to get the best out of them on the pitch.

The club saw most of its established players moved to rival clubs in the league during the transfer window and were forced to replace them with young players from feeder team, academies and lower division teams leaving Alaekwe with the responsibility of leading the team as the most experienced player.

“I try to let them know that they have to play their game and see everyone on the pitch as equal because there is no big player, there is no small player.

“I also motivate them by telling them to play well and make a name for themselves because that is how every great footballer started,”

Alaekwe who got the winner for the Anambra warriors in Wednesday’s victory over Nasarawa United in the second fixture of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), however, praised his teammates for the work ethics.

“Scoring the first goal in the home match is a thing of you. We needed the points at all cost considering the fact that we drew in Jos,

“For my team, it was an amazing match for us because it means we are still unbeaten and we have worked hard for it. We have new players in our squad, but we don’t see them as inexperience.  We are banking more on our strength, resilience, and talent”.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah are second on the log of Group B of the Nigeria professional football league table with four points from two matches.
