Super Eagles legend Emmanuel Amunike ‘s tutored Tanzania picked their first win of ongoing 2019 AFCON qualifier campaign after recording 2-0 home win over Cape Verde Island on Tuesday.
Tanzania, who last featured at the Africa biggest football festival in 1980, needed nothing but a victory following three consecutive games with a victory in the qualifier, including the recent loss away at Cape Verde.
Saimon Msuva opened the scoring for the home side in the 29th minutes, before Mbwana Samatta made it 2-0 in the 52nd minutes of the encounter.
Cape Verde, however, tried to find a through in order to reduce the deficit but the Amunike boy held on for their first three points in the qualifier.
The win moves Tanzania to the second position on Group L table with five points, ahead of Cape Verde who slipped to third with four points , Uganda are sitting comfortably on the table with points and Lesotho are fourth with two points.
All team have played four matches .
