Barcelona move will put me in shape for the World Cup – Oshoala

Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, Says her move to Barcelona Women’s club will surely be of help to her and the Super Falcons at forthcoming Women’s World Cup later this year in France.

The three-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year joined the Catalan giants on loan from Chinese side Dalian Quanjian F.C , the Club she joined February 2017 after stints with Liverpool and Arsenal ladies in England.

Speaking to FIFA.com on Monday, Oshoala said her move to Barcelona is good for her , as it will help to put her on the right shape before the summer World Cup.

“Joining Barcelona is a good one for me and for my country. We are optimistic as we get prepared. I already told my team-mates that no-one that’s qualified for the World Cup is a pushover. We’re among the champions of our own continents. It’s champions against champions. The group is open but it’s very high quality.”

She also added that the Super Falcons wasn’t at their best moments during the 11th AWCON in Ghana last December because the teamdidn’t have enough time together prior to the tournament.

“For the CAF tournament, I remember that the team has not been together properly for about two years, which has made things more difficult because we hadn’t had many proper sessions, we were just together for about two weeks prior to the tournament and it was pretty difficult,

“Our goal at the start was to qualify for the World Cup but we ended up winning it in the end. This has given us a lot of confidence going into the World Cup, ahead of our friendly games and for the team to perform better,” she told FIFA.com

Oshoala was dethroned as the African football queen by South African Kgatlana In 2018 after winning the award on three occasions (2017, 2016 & 2014).
