Eight-time South African league winners Mamelodi Sundowns are set to storm the country on Thursday Ahead of Fridays CAF Champions League group A game against Nigeria’s Lobi Stars.
The Masadawana on Saturday at the FNB Stadium in Soweto beat (the Amakhosi) Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in the ABSA premier league to climb to 4th position on the log and gain momentum for the first game of the Champions League.
Meanwhile, the league game against Polokwane City which was scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed, in order for the 2016 CAF Champions League winners to prosecute the game and keep the Brazilians fit for action.
Nigeria’s sole representatives in the competition Lobi Stars, have been training extensively at their base in Makurdi and are expected to hit the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu which is the venue for the game firing on all cylinders; for the first match of a tough group which also features former African champions ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast and Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.
