Eaglets pick MVP, Top Scorer Awards in Niger

Nigeria’s Samson Tijani and Kunle Olusegun both picked individual awards at the 2019 Africa U17 Cup of Nations qualifying championships in Niger.

On Saturday, the Eaglets defeated Ghana 3-1 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time, to pick the only ticket from the WAFU B Zone.

The 5 times World Champions also had more to celebrate as midfielder, Samson Tijani was voted the MVP of the championship while Kunle Olusegun’s 4 goals saw him pick the Top scorers award.

Olusegun bagged a brace in the opening game defeat to Burkina Faso and chipped one in when the Eaglets routed Ivory Coast 5-1. He scored his fourth and the match-winner against hosts, Niger in the semi-final clash.
