Following his team’s elimination from the 2018 CAF Confederations Cup, Enyimba international of Aba gaffer Usman Abdullah has hailed the team’s second leg performance despite the  2-1 away loss on Wednesday.

Enyimba was beaten 3-1 after both legs in Nigeria and Morocco respectively to kiss the competition good bye but the team second leg performance shows a was learnt after the first leg 1-0 defeat in Aba, where the people’s Elephants was second best .

Enyimba showed courage in Morocco, taking all the initiative, creating good chances but were let down by poor finishing.

The Moroccans eventually won both ties but it was not by a total dominance, it was a game which the Nigerian side could have won, had they avoid a lot individual errors in both matches.

However, Abdallah echoed the statement of his star Midfielder Austine Oladapo, who told brila.net’s Oluwaseyi Alao that Enyimba lost the final ticket in Aba.

“I think that all of my boys did very well and they achieved something for themselves,” Abdullah told media.

“I think that they did well despite the hassles we’ve gone through to reach the semi-final. Unfortunately, we are not going to be participating in the Caf competition next year but it is okay because the team needs regrouping as we have a little bit ups and down.

“We need to sit down and correct most of the mistakes and improve in the certain places we are weak and strengthen more of the places where we are strong and see how it goes.

Abdallah who replaced Paul Aigbogun as Enough head after the Flying Eagles boss resignation from his position, Said he is happy his boys had helped the country maintained the two full slots for the competition next season but regretted his side won’t be back on the immediate.

“Even though the club did not achieve anything. But If we look at it, we have been able to help the country recovered the two full slots lost this year. Maybe probably next year, we might see how we would benefit from it. I am proud of my boys.”

“Right now, I want to boys to go and rest for about two to three weeks and enjoy the off-season with their family and we regroup again for the next season.”
