FIBA Africa confirms dates for Continental Qualifiers

FIBA Africa Zone 3 has confirmed the dates for the Men and Women’s Qualifiers of the 2018 FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup.

The Qualifiers for the women will take place from November 12-14 in Cotonou, Benin Republic with two teams emerging for the final round in Maputo, Mozambique between November 16-25.

 

Cotonou, Benin Republic will also play host to the Men’s Qualifiers between November 26 and December 1, 2018, with two teams qualifying for the new Afro League competition designed by FIBA Africa which is scheduled to begin in January 2019.

 

According to the President of FIBA Africa Zone 3, Col. Sam Ahmedu, National Federations have been notified about the Qualifiers. He also stated that a workshop on the Afro League will be held during the Zonal Qualifiers for Men to enable National Federations and clubs in the zone have a better understanding of the format for the new league.

 

In addition, Zonal Board meeting involving National Federations will hold in Cotonou before the commencement of the Zonal Men’s Qualifiers.

 

FIBA Africa Zone 3 comprises of 8 National Federations: Nigeria, Niger, Ghana, Liberia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, and Togo.

 

The FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup is a competition organized by FIBA Africa and played by the champions of the leagues of African countries.
