Finidi urges Moses to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea

Super Eagles legend Finidi George has backed former Nigerian forward Victor Moses to fight hard and regain his place in the Maurizio Sarri-led Chelsea set up.

The 28-year-old was immensely valued under former Blues manager Antonio Conte where he emerged as one of the best wing-backs in the world, helping the Italian win the 2016/17 premier league title and linked with a switch to Barcelona.

However, his fortunes has changed under the new manager, Maurizio Sarri who sees the Nigerian as surplus to requirement with a potential sale in January an option.

In an exclusive chat with the SportingLife, Finidi has urged the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner to stay and fight for his place.

“Its unfortunate but sometimes coaches decide what they want from each player. Some coaches may not like your style but if he shined under Conte, he should be able to do well under Sarri regardless of the formation.

“Moses has not been given time to perform, that’s the truth. Maybe the manager wasn’t impressed with what he saw during the preseason but he must be ready to fight for his place.

“Eto’o had the same problems under Pep Guardiola during their time at Barcelona as the Spaniard suggested he didn’t like the Cameroonian but with time Eto’o took his opportunity and became a regular and won a lot, including the champions league.
