Gernot Rohr wants Eagles Uyo return for Seychelles clash

Super Eagles would prefer to the play the dead-rubber 2019 AFCON qualifier match against the Pirates of Seychelles in Uyo, rather than returning to the Stephen Keshi Stadium according to Coach Gernot Rohr.

The Nest of champions in Uyo has hosted Eagles’ first leg Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya last month before the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba hosted the international friendly match against Cranes of Uganda.

Rohr, however, revealed his boys love the Uyo stadium because it has a good grass.

“The players like the Uyo Stadium because it has a good pitch. We can’t also forget the Stephen Keshi Stadium where we played Uganda in a friendly last Tuesday.

“The hospitality was good. But my players like it when they play on good pitches,” he said.

Rohr si added that he’s pleased with the performance of the new players in the team but single out with Samuel Kalu and Jamiu Collins for special praises.

“We want to have quick players on the wings. The new boys are doing well. You have Kalu, Simon Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen who scored on Sunday and Collins. I like the competition. For instance, Kalu can defend and at the same time attack which is good for the team,” he said.

The Franco-Geman concluded, that it’s difficult to scout for players in the Nigeria professional football league, but playing abroad makes it easier for the technical crew.

“It will be difficult for me and my assistants to scout for players in the lower league but when you are playing in the top leagues, it makes our jobs easy,” he concluded.
