Gor Mahia can’t stop Lobi Stars – Sikiru Alimi

Lobi Stars attacker, Sikiru Alimi says Lobi Stars CAF champions league opponents Gor Mahia are not a pushover but insists his side want to make it into the group stage of the competition.

Gor Mahia will welcome the Nigerian champions to Moi international Sports Center in Nairobi for the Sunday clash with both side setting their sight on the money spinning group stage of the competition.

Lobi lost their last away game 1-0 to USM De Loum of Cameroon but bounced back to to win the return leg 2-0 at Nnamdi Azikwe stadium, while Gor Mahia eliminated Big Bullets of Malawi 4-3 on penalties after both legs ended 1-1 on aggregate.

While speaking on the game, Alimi who joined Lobi Stars from Sunshine Stars of Akure believes the first leg is equally important as the second leg in Nigeria.

“At this stage of the competition no team is a pushover. Gor Mahia are a big club in Kenya but we really want to make it to the group stage and that is our target.

So the first leg game in Kenya is very important likewise the second in Enugu where we now play our home games for the Champions League.

The prolific attacker added that he’s banking on his teammates to help him deliver more goals to help the team achieve their target.

“Lobi have a good team and I believe that can help me score more goals than I did last season in the league. Of course scoring 10 or more goals will be good for me provided it helps the club in challenging for the title too.”.
