Ighalo, Mikel, Semi Ajayi & other Eagles stars who could join new clubs in January

The January transfer window is already in the midway stage as Football clubs usually access their pre-season targets, Cornerstonenewsng.comis taking a look at some of the Super Eagles players who could be on the move.

Players as well also use this window to evaluate their performance for the first six months of the season and at times may decide to seek greener pastures elsewhere for whatever reason they deem fit.

Here are five top Nigerian footballers who look set for pastures anew this January transfer window.

JOHN OBI MIKEL:

The Nigerian skipper has been plying his trade at Tianjin Teda in the Chinese Super League since leaving Stamford Bridge in the winter of 2017.

The former Chelsea Midfielder has now decided to take his talents elsewhere and is set to leave the North Eastern Chinese outfit as he has terminated his contract with the oriental club amidst talks with English premier league side Crystal Palace.

ODION IGHALO:

Former Udinese striker Odion Jude Ighalo may be another Nigerian set to depart his present club side this transfer window.

The Edo state forward currently is on the payroll of Changchun Yatai but may depart the Jilin outfit after they were relegated to the China League One from the Super League as rumors have that both Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspurs are lining up bids to lure the Nigerian away from his Chinese rendezvous.

VICTOR MOSES:

Retired Victor Moses is one Nigerian who is languishing in the wilderness of ‘no game time’ as the attacker has currently fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri who has deemed him surplus to requirements at the South West London club.

Moses has played for just 176minutes in all competitions making just six cameo appearances as the likes of Fulham, Crystal Palace, Cardiff City and a couple of Premier League clubs are jostling for the signature of the Kaduna born frontman.

SEMI AJAYI:

Rotherham United defender Semi Ajayi is still basking in the euphoria of being a full-fledged member of the Super Eagles as he has been constantly in Gernot Rohr’s teams since the aftermath of the Copa Mundial.

And the latest stories coming from England has shown that Premier League outfit Watford sent scouts to Portman Road to monitor Ajayi in Rotherham’s championship game against Ipswich Town.

Ajayi was deployed to play in the defensive midfield position in front of centre-backs, Raggert and Robertson in the encounter and was the best rated defensive-minded player on his team as he lasted the entire duration of the game which could be an Audition for the fullback as he could be lining up for the Hornets in the foreseeable future.

SIMEON NWANKWO:

Nanka-born striker Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo is another Nigerian who may leave his club before the end of the winter transfer window.

The Crotone striker has not been enjoying the best of times this season in the Serie B having found the back of the net 4 times in 20 appearances in all competitions.

Belgium could be his next destination as Anderlecht and Lokeren could be an avenue for the Anambra man to make a return to top flight football as Crotone are sitting 18th on the 19 team log and if Simy stays in Italy, the Super Eagle could see himself ply his trade in the Serie C thereby ending his dreams of being the first choice striker for the Nigerian Men’s national team.
