Super Eagles technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr yet again snubbed NPFL outfield players in his 24-man list announced for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya and Team coordinator, Patrick Pascal explains the decision was entirely objective.
Rohr named Ikechukwu Ezenwa; as the only NPFL based player in the list of invitees, and Pascal explained it was due to the lack of quality across the top flight league in Nigeria.
The German has given reasons for the snub and promises as soon as he sees improvements, to open the doors to ‘home based’ players.
In a chat with Brila.net, Pascal explained that the NPFL players ‘are not mentally ready to challenge for a spot in the national team.’
Meanwhile the Super Eagles team official assured that there wont be problems discovering talents from the domestic league going forward.
