The Enugu State Police Command,has smashed a child stealing syndicate and arrested one one of the suspects,Ifeanyi Omeke,21, at Igogoro Village in Enugu-Ezike community of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest was made on conjunction with Igbo-Eze North Police Division and Neighborhood Watch Group.
According to Enugu State Police Publlic Relations Officer ( PPRO)DSP Daniel Ndukwe,”the suspect was nabbed after he sneaked into the complainant’s house in the mentioned community and attempted to steal a one-year, three-month-old girl child.
“The suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he was contracted by his cohorts at large to steal children for ritual and other criminal purposes.
” Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further thorough investigation that will lead to the arrest of other members of the criminal syndicate and their accomplices”.
