Super Eagles always in my heart, says new Derby defender Efe Ambrose

Derby County defender Efe Ambrose has not played for the Super Eagles since Nigeria’s 1-0 loss away to Egypt in March 2016, but the player has revealed that he still keeps up to tab with the national team and calls some players to continuously encourage and support them.

Nigerian defender Ambrose has not played for the Super Eagles since Nigeria’s 1-0 loss away to Egypt in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in March 2016, and in a chat with www.brila.net.

Since then, the defender has not been called up but he insists he still has a lot to offer to the Super Eagles.

“I love Super Eagles and will always support my country whenever they play. I love what the coaching crew are doing with the team and all I have to do is work hard to earn a recall.” stated Ambrose.

“ I call some of the players regularly, I know what’s happening with the team, I call some of the players to wish them well and pray for them”

“Am a Nigerian and I love my country. I will always support the green and white as it is my fatherland and am proud to be a Nigerian player who played for Nigeria”, concluded Ambrose.

The rock-solid defender was a regular in the Super Eagles under former gaffer Sunday Oliseh before the manager resigned in February 2016.

He was invited by the then interim boss Samson Siasia for the doubleheader against Egypt in March 2016 for the 2017 AFCON qualifiers.

Ambrose, earlier today completed his move to Derby County after having his contract terminated by Hibernian, has 51 caps for the Super Eagles and was part of the squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title for Nigeria.
