Supreme Court decision on Enugu guber election should draw curtains on all agitations, protestations – NPA

  • The Nsukka Professionals Association(NPA), has stated that the Supreme Court decision affirming the declaration of Peter Mba as the Governor of Enugu state should draw the curtains on all agitations and protestations about the concluded gubernatorial election in the state.
    The association urged aggrieved contestants to prepare to try again in 2027 and invited the political class in the state to find common ground with Governor Mba to desperately implement needed measures and policies to improve the living conditions of Enugu people and bring rapid and sustainable development to the state.
    The association, in a statement by its
    President, Mr. Charles Nwodo Jnr formerly congratulated Governor Peter Uba over his victory at the Supreme Court affirming that his declaration as Governor has brought to an end the legal challenges to the state gubernatorial election outcome.
    The association wished the governor a successful tenure and charged him to serve the people of the state faithfully, diligently and without discrimination while also indicated its willingness to collaborate with the administration in any effort towards the rapid development of the state.
    Mr. Nwodo Jnr asserted that the association would maintain with vigor, its role as promoter of good governance and electoral integrity as well as foremost defender of the common good.
    The association further extended congratulatory message to the gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party in the state, Hon. Chijioke Edoga for the important achievement recorded by his party stating that “more significantly, for his decision to resort to the courts and not to the streets to seek redress in relation to the election outcome.
    According to Mr. Nwodo Jnr, Hon. Edoga should be proud of himself and his party for his contribution in raising civic awareness and deepening the political space in Enugu State and Nigeria.”
    NPA also noted that valid and substantial misgivings about the 2023 election outcome in the state exist, but, asserted that the Supreme Court decision should draw the curtains on all agitations.
