We won’t show up for super eight, 3SC dares NFF

The General Manager of 3SC has hinted that the club will not be honouring the NNL super eight that is scheduled for today in Aba and the has written to the NFF.

The Nigeria Football Federation has been at loggerheads with the some Nigeria National League clubs on the number of teams to be promoted to the Nigeria professional football league next season.

The NNL clubs holding are on a previous agreement between them and the NFF that eight teams will join the elite division next season, but the Nigeria Football Governing Body had changed its position on that and said only four teams will be promoted from play-off of eight.

Meanwhile, The Nigeria Football Federation gave a directive to all the eight expected to compete in the play-off to be at the venue of the tournament, but only three clubs complied with remaining five insists they are ready to boycott the tournament.

When asked why 3SC is not in Aba for the play-off after the players were spotted training at the Lekan Salami Stadium early morning of Wednesday, Rasheed Balogun said his team won’t be honouring the tournament because the club lacks the personnel to do so.

“We will not be able to play the Super eight because we don’t have the personnel to execute the play-off , we only have 15 players and of which two are goalkeepers, because, after the Congress, we received a congratulatory messages and all every club did was to place players on transfer and preparing for NPFL.”

Mr. Balogun, however, refuted the claims that the club is afraid of taking part in the super eight.

“We are not afraid of playing the play-off, it’s just we don’t have enough players to prosecute to do and we have written to the NFF.” He concluded.
