1 dies , another injured as bus rammed into building in Lagos

One person died on Tuesday while another was seriously injured when a Lagos State Government owned bus, rammed into a residential building at Bayo Kuku area , along Afraid Rewane Road, Ikoyi ,Lagos .
The building collapsed on the vehicle and the occupants , while the driver of the vehicles took to his heels after the accident.
According to a Senior Police Officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity , the bus, with registration number: KSF 397 XK , lost control; ran to the other side of the road and rammed into the building.
” Two occupants of the building, were trapped inside the house which later collapsed . A team of policemen and other emergency responders were mobilized to the scene. One of the victims, was rescued while the unlucky one died under the rubbles.
” The injured victim, Dauda Lukas, 44 , was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital for treatment ,while the dead, was deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
However, the police have stepped up manhunt for the driver of the vehicle who fled the scene of the accident.
A resident, Idoko Jubril, who described the driver of the vehicle as reckless ,said,” we are happy that there were no other occupants in the vehicle as many casualties would have been recorded. I am appealing to the police to fish out the driver , who took to his heels after committing the avoidable havoc. The man left the other side of the road and caused damage to the occupants of another building at the other side of the road. I am suspecting that he was driving under the influence of alcohol “.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said one person died in the accident that was caused by LAGBUS, while another person was rescued .
According to him, the injured was rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital for treatment while the dead had been deposited in the hospital morgue.
The said the driver of the vehicle would soon be arrested as the Force has stepped up manhunt on him.
