Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu has warned that the Police would deal with trouble makers who attempt to attack people ,especially non indigenes during the upcoming gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.
The CP at a meeting with major stakeholders in the transport sector of the state, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW ), commercial motorcycle operators (Okada) , tricycle (Keke Marwa ) union and members of the Odu’a Peoples Congress (OPC ) , said the Force would not fold its arms and watch hoodlums take over the State.
In a statement by Spokesman of the Command , CSP. Chike Oti , he stated that : ” The CP asked the leaders of the groups to caution their members not to lend themselves to unpatriotic elements who might want to use them to breach the public peace and destroy the peaceful coexistence among the various ethnic groups in the state.
” He added that the economic progress in the state derives largely from the peaceful atmosphere in the metropolis. He reiterated his earlier warning that the Command would deal decisively with troublemakers.
“At the end of the meeting, they all agreed on the need to guard the peace currently enjoyed in the state jealously while pledging that none of their members would be used to truncate the peace in Lagos State before, during and after the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections”.
