2013 AFCON Hero Sunday Mba Wants A Return To Football

Nigeria’s 2013 African Cup of Nations hero Sunday Mba says he’s ready to return to the game that gave him fame after two years of absence.

Mba’s career took a dramatic turn around after he was included in the 2013 African Cup of Nations squad in South Africa by former Super Eagles boss Stephen Keshi.

Mba went on to score twice for Nigeria at the tournament, including the goal that won Nigeria the title against Burkina Faso at the FNB Stadium.

The attacking midfielder later joined CA Bastia of France from Warri Wolves after the successful tournament, but it proved to be a wrong move at the end.

His last competitive outing was against Sivasspor in May 2017, before he was later released by Turkish club Yeni Malatyaspor in September 2017 after scoring eight goals in 55 appearances.

”My desire is to get back into club football and I am working hard to start playing again.”As a free agent, things are not really that easy, but you can only be hopeful,”

”Football is everything I have and I cannot just give up. I believe there’s something out there for me.”

”First you’d need the luck to find someone that believes in you and ready to give you a chance,” he said.

”I’ve continued to stay in shape, train daily and be physically ready for any opportunity.

”I still have something to give and will continue to stay mentally and physically ready.”

Mba represented Nigeria at the West African Football Union (Wafu) Cup in 2010, 2013 African Cup of Nations and Confederations Cup in Brazil.
