2019 AFCON: Super Eagles Seeded, could face Ghana, Ivory Coast or Algeria in Group Stage

Nigeria have been seeded in Pool A ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations draw on Friday in Cairo.

Contrary to early reports, Nigeria were initially believed to be in pool B, but will now join host nation Egypt as well as Cameroon, Senegal, Tunisia and Morocco as the top seeded sides in the tournament.

CAF tweeted the official seeds on Thursday.

In a statement issued by CAF it warned that:

“Following articles published in some media concerning the draw procedure for the Total African Cup of Nations 2019, the Confédération Africaine de Football reminds that the website cafonline.com is the only official communication of CAF competitions.

“In accordance with the statutes and regulations of CAF, the procedure for the draw of the Total AFCON, Egypt 2019 will be submitted to the AFCON Organizing Committee and approved by the Executive Committee.”
