River Hoopers player laments protracted basketball crisis

River Hoopers Basketball Club player, Anthony Victor has lamented the protracted crisis rocking basketball in Nigeria saying that the players have been worst hit by the persistent power tussle.
Speaking with brila.net, Anthony stated that despite the fact that an abridged league was played last season, the players have really suffered as they have not been able to get expected bonuses while expressing hope that the issue would be resolved.
“In the league I would say in the past two years, it has been non-existent because of the problem between the basketball factions. Forget about the abridged league it just doesn’t cut it. I guess we can only hope we have a better season this year.
This has affected us as players because without an active league, there are no salaries and bonuses. We hope that something can be done to avoid this rough patch again. It’s not easy at all”.
The Federal High Court in Abuja just last week, restrained both Musa Kida and Tijjani Umar-led factions of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) from conducting any fresh Premier Basketball League for the purpose of seekingmen’s basketball club representatives to the 2018/2019 African Continental Club Championship, pending the determination of the substantive suit before it.
The Nigerian basketball crisis has raged on with several moves made by world basketball governing body, FIBA to resolve the crisis.
