Tragedy struck in Amasiri community in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State as a 50-year-old woman, Mrs. Chinyere Agwu, was shot dead by Paul. Cornerstone News gathered that the tragedy took place at the premises of Solution Ground International Church in the community at about 5 am last Sunday.
It was gathered that the deceased, a mother of seven, had gone to the church alongside two other women for intercessory prayers before the commencement of the Sunday’s normal church service before the assailant struck.

Narrating what happened to newsmen at the state police command headquarters in Abakaliki, the state capital, the general overseer of the church, Pastor Michael Uche, said he was alerted about the tragedy by his mother.
He said that his mother, who was one of three women that were attacked in the church, ran home to alert him while the other woman, out of fear hid somewhere in the church premises.
Uche said: “My mother told me that as they were entering the church, they flashed their torchlight and saw a man standing in front of the church holding an object. The next thing they heard was a gunshot.

“She then ran back home and informed me, while the other woman ran into the bush. So, immediately I heard that, I carried my motorcycle and went there.”
The cleric said that the women identified their attacker as Paul. He said that the victim, before she died, continually mentioned the man’s name, and queried what she did to him.
Uche, however, said that the target of the attack was his mother and not the victim as his mother had issues with Paul’s wife the previous day.
