Frank Lampard to be named Chelsea manager ‘before the end of the week’

CHELSEA will announce Club legend Frank Lampard as their new manager before the end of the week, it’s been claimed, as the Derby Boss looks to take the reigns at Stamford Bridge after the departure of new Juventus Manager Maurizio Sarri.

Lampard is expected to be announced as the new Chelsea boss before the end of this week, it’s been claimed.

It would take something “spectacular” for the deal to fall through, as Chelsea look to prize Lampard away from Derby County, according to UK Journalist Ben Fletcher.

Lampard has become the favourite to takeover at Stamford Bridge after Sarri left the club last week.

Lampard has reportedly been offered a three-year deal at Chelsea, but the club would have to pay Derby around £4million in compensation.

In the past, whenever Chelsea have been linked with a new manager, the rumour mill tends to prove correct, claimed Fletcher.

“The only time I can really think of that I’ve been surprised by a hire was Andre Villas-Boas, and we caught wind of when he was going to be Chelsea coach quite late on before he got the gig,” he added.

“But since then, there’s been no smoke without fire, and as far as Lampard is concerned, it would take something spectacular for this to fall through.”
