Nigeria Rugby national team captain, Azeez Ladipo has recounted his time with the national team and believes the Black stallions have come a long way since he started playing in the team as a teenager and is optimistic Nigeria will get a good team to compete in forthcoming qualifiers.
The Stallions captain in a chat with brila.net stated that the Nigeria Rugby team is in a rebuilding phase with plans to compete at the Olympic qualifiers in November, also a pre-qualifier match against Magadascar in Antananarivo for the next rugby world cup in December.
“We are hoping to rebuild on the team again, we have some foreign players in the squad, we are hoping to achieve what Basketball has in Niigeria.
“We will play the Olympic qualifiers in November 10-11, before the 2020 olympics qualifier the sevens team ought to play a warm up tournament against England, Ireland, South Africa and other top rugby nations, while the 15’s will have a pre-qualifying match against Magadascar hopefully we get a good team to execute it so we can get into the main qualifying group.”
Ladipo who is currently playing sevens rugby in the US has plans to secure a move to a foreign-based rugby team.
