How ‘work permit’ stopped Sekidika’s premier league move

It has been revealed that Nigerian youngster Jesse Sekidika almost joined a premier league club before he finally arrived at Galatasaray at the beginning of this season.

Sekidika’s agent Murphy Olanrewaju made this known in an exclusive interview with www.Cornerstonenewsng.comon Wednesday.

The Nigerian midfielder signed a four and half year contract with the Turk Telekom outfit at the beginning of the season, but before then, he had spells with Stoke City, Benfica Napredak Krusevac in 2016.

Sekidika later joined the Turkish second division side Eskisehirspor last year, from where he moves to Galatasary, but has only made three appearances for the club this season.

His agent, Mr. Olarenwaju later revealed the player was wanted by premier league clubs, but the deal fell through because of his inability to secure a work permit.

“Jesse’s issue is not like a norm we see in all Nigerian players, he’s a bit fortunate because his dad sent him to football school in England and after that, he was in Portugal and later moved to Serbia,” he told brila.net.

“He’s unique, he talented and has parents that supporter him after he finished from Bruce college in England where he studied and play football. A club from the premiership wanted him, but he’s couldn’t sign because of work permit.

That’s why he went to Portugal, Serbia before he arrived at the second division in Turkey.” he said.

Sekidika later made his debut for the for Galatasaray in their hard-fought 2-1 win over  Denizlispor in the Turkish Super Lig back January.
