Gernot Rohr confirms receipt of NFF contract offer

Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has confirmed he has received an offer of a new contract from the Nigeria Football Federation.

Rohr is in the final three months of his current deal and has expressed desire to continue with the team.

Earlier this month, NFF President Amaju Pinnick hinted that the German’s new contract will be sent to him in France and it would include some new stipulations.

According to Pinnick, the stipulations will entail that the 66-year-old must reside in Nigeria, develop players from the local leagues and earn in Naira.

However, in an interview with Girondins4ever.com, the German tactician said he has received a proposal for an extension, but insisted he would look into it.

“Personally, I also discussed with my (NFF) president on the future since I am at the end of the contract on June 30. I have just received a proposal for an extension. We will also have to look into this,”

“But it is especially the health of the players, of everyone, right now, that counts. In Nigeria, there are not a lot of cases, but there are some too.

“We are afraid for Africa that it could worsen because the habits of life there make confinement very difficult. So, I’m hearing from players from Nigeria.”

Rohr, who took over the Eagles’ job in 2016, has led Nigeria to two tournaments, the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where the Super Eagles crashed out in the group stage and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (NFF) where they finished third.
