NBBF will make conscious and cautious approach towards the 2023 FIBA world cup – Ogunade

Vice President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation Babatunde Ogunade has stated that the Federation will make a conscious and cautious approach towards the 2023 FIBA basketball world cup.

Ogunade speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the step taken to announce means they will also from now tailor their plan after the world basketball body but stressed that the challenges meeting the obligation towards the world is enormous in the area of finance with next to nothing coming from FIBA as support fund.
He, however, added that the NBBF will be conscious and cautious in drawing up a working plan.
“Based on their plan, we will also make our plan. For us it is expensive to make those plans and bring them to fruition because it will mean us getting money to bring our athletes together and then wasting those monies. It’s never easy to afford those kinds of expenses.
We will be conscious in putting our plans together, they will take the lead as the international body but when it comes to financing, we have to be more cautious because bringing the players together cost us a lot of money.”
