2023 FIBA world cup dates hands coaches opportunity to plan – Ogoh

Assistant coach of Nigeria’s men basketball national team Odaudu Ogoh has stated that the announcement of a date for the 2023 FIBA Men’s world cup slated for Indonesia, Japan, and The Philippines will hand national team coaches and Federations the opportunity to start planning with a clearer pathway as to what needs to be done between now and then.

Ogoh speaking in a chat with www.Cornerstonenewsng.comsaid the world cup pathway preparation will, however, be taken care of on the technical front easily with the engagement of Nigeria’s men basketball national team in the 2021 Olympics, as well as the Africa cup of nations as the team, will have good enough competitive games to deal with towards the world cup proper.
The world cup date as announced by FIBA on Monday will run from the 25th August 2023 to 10th September 2023.
“It just gives the opportunity to plan ahead when you’re given such dates, you will not be caught unaware, you cannot say you didn’t prepare enough even though for us it’s not going to be the number one priority for us and for people participating in the Olympics because Olympics is on the radar.
The Africa cup of nations is on the radar so I think all those ones will help. Preparation for the 2023 world cup will start this 2020 because of course, you start getting ready for the Olympics next year, the cup of nations next year, and then you should have the bulk of the team you want to use in ground already heading towards the world cup proper.”
