Joel Obi Benched As Torino Lose To Fiorentina

Super Eagles midfielder Joel Obi was an unused substitute for Torino in Sunday’s 2-1 Serie A defeat to Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico.

The defeat was Torino’s fourth straight loss in the Serie A which has further dampened their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.

Obi, who has been invited for the Super Eagles’ World Cup warm-up matches against Poland and Serbia, has made 18 Serie A appearances this season and has found the back of the net five times.

Veretout Jordan’s opening goal for Fiorentina was cancelled out by Andre Berlotti in the 86th minute.

Cyril Thereau scored a late winner from the spot in the 94th minute.

The defeat means Torino dropped to the tenth position with 36 points from 28 games while Fiorentina moved up to ninth with 41 points from the same number of games.
