France bounced back from their disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Colombia in Friday’s friendly with a 3-1 win against hosts of the 2018 World Cup Russia on Tuesday in Saint- Petersburg.
It was Russia’s second straight defeat after losing 3-0 to Brazil last Friday.
A brace from Kylian Mbappe and a goal from Paul Pogba, who provided the assist for France’s first goal, secured the win for the 1998 World Cup winners.
Mbappe opened scoring in the 40th minute while Pogba made it 2-0 in the 49th minute.
Russia pulled a goal back through Fedor Smolov in the 68th minute before Mbappe scored his second goal of the game to give his side the impressive win.
France’s next tune-up game is against Republic of Ireland on May 28, while Russia will face Austria on May 30.
Hosts Russia are in Group A at this year’s World Cup with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
France are in Group C with Australia, Peru and Denmark.
