ABL: Civil Defenders in the Elite 8

COTONOU – Civil Defenders punched a ticket for the Elite 8 of the Africa Basketball League following a 62-58 win over host team Elan Sportif in Cotonou on Sunday.

The Nigerian side emerged from a make or mar tie against the host team at the Hall des Arts Loisirs et Sports, leaving the home crowd stunned.

 

Victor Okpe led the rest of the pack with a game high 16 points; on a night when he scored a double double with an impressive 16 rebounds.

 

Also, Ibe Abuchi and Umar Garba contributed a combined 27 points; 13pts and 14pts respectively.

 

Defenders join AS Rades from group B and six others in the next round of the competition that gets underway between March 22-31 (first-leg) and April 5-14 (second-leg), when the draw is done.
