African Games: Raymond Ekevwo Wins 100m Men’s Gold, As Chukwuebuka Enekwechi Clinches Gold In Shotput

Nigeria’s Raymond Ekevwo won the gold medal in the men’s 100m final at the ongoing 12th African Games in Rabat Morroco on Tuesday.

 

The fastest Nigerian man ran 9.96s  to become the 10th Nigerian male sprinter to grace the sub-10 sec barrier.

 

His compatriot Usheoritse Itskeiri finished third to pick up the bronze medal with also a PB of 10.02.

 

While Arthur Cisse took silver with a time of 9.97.

 

 

In another event, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi won Nigeria’s third gold medal of the day Shotput event at the ongoing 12th games.

 

Chuckwuebuka in the process broke the Games Record with a fantastic throw of 21.48 in the men’s Shotput final.

 

His victory means Khalifa Mohammed and Hassan Mostafa had to settle for second and third with throw of 20.85m and 20.71m respectively.

 

Another Nigerian in action , Dotun Ogundeji was fourth with a 20.06m throw which wasn’t good enough to get him on the podium for medal.
