Aina’s Hull, Championship Leaders Wolves Draw; Aluko’s Reading Lose, Obasi Left Out

By James Agberebi:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Nigeria goalkeeper Carl Ikeme’s club Wolverhampton Wanderers missed the chance to stretch their lead in the Championship league table as they were forced to a 2-2 home draw by Hull City on Tuesday.
In action for Hull was Super Eagles defender Ola Aina who played for 90 minutes.
Wolves went 1-0 up through Diogo Jota in the 18th minute from the penalty spot before Hull equalised thanks to David Meyler who also converted from the penalty spot on 37 minutes.
An own goal by Ryan Bennett in the 78th minute put Hull 2-1 ahead.
But with seven minutes remaining, Oskar Buur drew Wolves level to ensure both teams shared th spoils.
With six games remaining, Wolves still lead the league table on 86 points while Hull are 18th on 41 points, seven points away from the drop zone in the 24-team log.
At Villa Park, Aston Villa strenghtened their place in the promotion play-offs spot with a resounding 3-0 win against 10-man Reading who paraded Nigerian forward Sone Aluko.
Reading were reduced to 10 men following the sending off of David Edwards in the 30th minute after he received his second yellow card.
Villa took advantage as Iceland international Birhir Bjarnasson opened scoring in the 47th minute.
Conor Hourihane made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute with Scott Hogan adding the third goal on 70 minutes.
Villa currently occupy the second position among the four places for the play-offs on 73 points with Reading 19th on 39 points.
And at the Macron Stadium, Nigeria forward Chinedu Obasi was once again left out of Bolton Wanderers’ squad as they lost 1-0 to visiting Birmingham City.
Lukas Jutkiewicz was the scorer for Birmingham as he netted in the 40th minute of the game.
Bolton are now 20th on 39 points in the league table.
