Aiteo NFF Award 2018: Musa, Onome Ebi win top Prizes, but Legendary Eagles stole the Show

Ahmed Musa and Onome Ebi emerged the best players in the Nigeria in 2018 at the Aiteo NFF Award, held on Monday at the Eko Hotel and Suites Convention Center in Lagos.

Super Eagles attacker, Musa won the player of the year (Men) ahead of teammates Odion Ighalo and Alex Iwobi, while Onome beat three times African player of the year, Asisat Oshoala and another Super Falcons teammate, Francisca Ordega, to the player of the year award (Women).

 

It was double celebration for Musa though, as he also won the goal of the season award for his scintillating strike (the first goal) against Iceland at the World Cup in Russia.

 

Other winners on the night were Gbenga Ogunbote, who was voted Coach of the Year (Men) and Thomas Dennerby winning the award for the women team category.

 

The Super Falcons were also crowned team of the year and Nasarawa United teen star, Anam Imo walked away with the best young player (Women).

 

In the men’s category, the young player of the year award went to Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze.

 

Meanwhile, the highlight of the night was the recognition and honor of the Super Eagles class of 1994.

 

Among those present on the night were: Augustine Eguavoen, Sunday Oliseh, Austin Okocha, Daniel Amokachi, Samson Siasia, Edema Fuludu, Mutiu Adepoju, Peter Rufai, Alloy Agu, Nduka Ugbade, Ben Iroha, Uche Okechukwu, Finidi George, Taribo West and Victor Ikpeba.

 

In one of the most emotional scenes of the night, daughter of late Super Eagles forward, Rashidi Yekini walked on stage to receive her Father’s award, standing alongside his teammates from the class of 1994.

 

Other football Awards given on the night were:

 

Fair Play – Akwa United

Fans of the Season – Kano Pillars.
