Nigeria’s women national team forward Evelyn Akhator has stated that the enormity of the task facing D’Tigress and a successful title defense is big but that the team will give it a good shot to successfully defend their title ahead of the fast-approaching FIBA women Afrobasket in Senegal.
Akhator speaking in a chat with www.brila.net also acknowledged Senegal as Nigeria’s biggest threat in the competition with the Senegalese having been the most successful team in the history of the women Afrobasket with 11 titles compared to Nigeria’s 3.
“We’re going to do our possible best to try to bring the trophy back home. I mean we’re getting there and we will get there and by God grace when we go to Senegal, we will try and win thought it’s not easy because Senegal are still number one in Africa and it’s going to be played in Senegal.
They have won the tournament 11 times while we have won it only three times.”
