Aliu laments current state of athletics in Nigeria

Former Nigeria international athlete Deji Aliu has lamented the current state of things in Nigerian athletics with a below-par outing at the World Athletics championship in Doha Qatar in the year 2019 together with the current leadership tussle in the federation which has given rise to parallel governing bodies.

Aliu speaking in a chat with www.Cornerstonenewsng.comsaid it is one of the worst periods in Nigerian athletics technically and administratively together with the unsettled state of governance of the Federation which he stressed will dampen the morale of Nigerian athletes.
“It’s one of the worst periods as far as track and field are concerned and I really do think this isn’t good for track and field.
“For people like us that has done so much to bring the sport to where it is right now, it’s been a slap on our face honestly.
“I mean faction A or B, none is going to be in the interest of the athletes. None is going to do any good to the athletes rather it will tamper with their morale.”
