Suspected killers of the traditional ruler of Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Isreal Adeusi who was killed last Thursday have been arrested.
The suspected were arrested by Ondo State security outfit also known as Operation Amotekun at Elegbaka forest, the same place where the monarch was murdered.
However, the identities of the suspects were yet to be made public because of the ongoing investigation into the killing.
The suspects were arrested by a combined team of security operatives that stormed Elegbaka forest after the killing of the monarch.
Oba Adeusi was killed last Thursday by suspected kidnappers between Elegbeka and Ifon while returning from a meeting in Akure, the state capital.
The Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said four kidnapped victims were also rescued during the pursuit of Oba Adeusi killers.
Chief Adeleye who said the arrested suspects were undergoing interrogations, explained that Operation Clean Up launched recently in the state was meant to take the war against crime to the criminals in their various hideouts.
He said: “In the past few weeks, there was an increase in kidnappings; armed robbery in the state and men of the Amotekun Corps went into action in collaboration with other security agencies.
“We observed a downward trend after the ban on okada at night, so we had to change tactics. That was why we launched Operation Clean-Up which is an intense patrol across the nooks and crannies of Akure and other parts of the state.
“The idea is to take the war to the kidnappers, criminals wherever they are hiding and we have recorded huge success. Amotekun operates in the bush, forest, and anywhere.”
