Nigeria’s sole CAF Champions League campaigners, Lobi Stars have commenced preparations for their next group stage of the Caf Champions League against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa away from home coming up on the 9th of March, with NPFL legend and player advisor, Victor Ezeji, charging the team to victory.
The Pride of Benue will face the Brazilians next month, and they have begun intensive build-up to the game, as they lie 4th in the group, with 2 matches left to play.
Speaking with www.brila.net, Ezeji stated that Lobi would surely qualify if they avoid defeat in South Africa.
“They have to avoid defeat in South Africa…If they avoid defeat against Sundowns, they will progress from their group, there is no two ways about it, stated.
The Pride of Benue cruised into the group stage of the lucrative club competition after beating Gor Mahia of Kenya on the away goal rule after the two-legged ended 3-3 on aggregate.
They had earlier beaten UMS de Loum of Cameroon 2-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round. Lobi would be looking to make it a double over the South Africans after they won 2-1 against the same opponents at home last month.
