Bayern Thrash Leverkusen To Reach German Cup Final

Bayern Munich are on course to win a treble this season after easing into the final of the DFB Pokal (German Cup) following a 6-2 win against Bayer Leverkusen at the Bay Arena on Tuesday night.

The Bavarians, who have already won the Bundesliga title and will also face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Champions League, took the lead through Javi Martinez in the third minute.

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski doubled the advantage in the ninth minute.

Leverkusen were not prepared to go down easily and pulled a goal back through Lars Bender in the 16th minute.

Thomas Muller restored Bayern Munich ‘s two-goal lead in the 52nd minute, while Spain midfielder Thiago Alcantra scored the fourth a minute after the hour mark.

Muller got his second and his side’s fifth of the game in the 64th minute.

Leon Bailey reduced the deficit for Leverkusen in the 72nd minute but Muller killed any hope of a comeback by scoring his third of the game six minutes later.

The second semi-final will be decided between Schalke 04 and Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.

The final match will  take place on May 19 in Berlin.
