Breaking! Enyimba, Nasarawa United, Sunshine Stars, Katsina United and Akwa United out of Aiteo Cup

Eight time Nigerian Professional Football League champions, Enyimba of Aba has been knocked out of 2019 Aiteo Cup on Wednesday.

The Usman Abdallah’s men fell to an amateur side, Smart FC 3 -2 in the round of 32 clash played at the University of Benin Sports Complex.

Enyimba who are fresh from winning the 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League title few days, were hoping of winning the Aiteo Cup to complete a rare domestic double, before the hope was dashed by the amateur side.

In other centers, Another Nigeria Professional Football League side Nasarawa United also suffered a shock defeat to a lower league side Aklosendi earlier today.

 

The game which was played in Makurdi, ended 10 in the favor of Aklosendi .

 

In Delta Center, Abia Warriors defeated Gateway United of Ogun state 2-0, to proceed to the next round .

Bendel Insurance of Benin also came back from a goal down to humiliate Ekiti United 42 in Lokoja this evening.

 

Another upset occurred in Edo Iyahmo stadium, as EFCC secured a 1-0 win over another top flight side Sunshine Stars.

Shooting Stars sports club of Ibadan continued their impressive form into the season with another stunning 2-0 Katsina United in Abuja, to advance to the next phase.

Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes recorded a 1-0 win over their northern rivals Gombe United to book their place in the round of 16.

In the battle of giants, Rivers United whitewashed Akwa United 3-0 to continue their impressive run in the competition.
