Bulgaria Football Union President Borislav Mihaylov Quits Over Racism Saga

Bulgarian Football Union President Borislav Mihaylov has resigned from his position as president of the Bulgarian Football Tuesday afternoon.

 

Borislav Mihaylov’s position became under threat after racial abuses was aimed at England’s players in Monday’s European Qualifier in Sofia.

 

 

Earlier on Tuesday, the Bulgaria prime minister “strongly condemned” the fans’ behaviour and called for Mihaylov to resign “immediately”.

 

“After yesterday’s shameful loss of the Bulgarian National Team and given the bad results of our football, I ordered to end any relationship with BFU, including financial, until the withdrawal of Borislav Mihaylov from the post,” he added.

 

Meanwhile World Football Governing Body FIFA and UEFA are expected come hard on the Bulgaria after the disgraceful behavior of their fans in their 6-0 defeat to the visitors.

 

England players debated to walk away from the game twice , afted monkey chants were aimed at debutant Tyrone Mings and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling whenever the touched the ball.

 

UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin has now called on football associations to united to fight racisms, before admitted the FA needs help from all the stakeholders in the game.

 

“Only by working together in the name of decency and honour will we make progress,” he said.
